It's Like Christmas in March!

After working on the "My Music History" project over the past few weeks, I got a bit nostalgic and ordered a bunch of CDs last week from Amazon.com. Lo and behold, I've been receiving them over the past few days (the wonderful postal service at work!). The first shipment I got contained "Best of the 90's", which contains such forgotten gems as "Ice Ice Baby", "I Touch Myself", and "Close to You". It also contained Sarah Brightman's wonderful CD "Time to Say Goodbye", which contains one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded (the title track). Yesterday I also received "The Best of the Sugarhill Gang", which I bought because I wanted the entire 15 minute version of "Rapper's Delight". And as an added surprise, the CD import of "Moi...Lolita" arrived a few days early. Needless to say, I'm wearing it out. This morning brought "The Ultimate Manilow", which contains pretty much all of his songs that I like. I'm also expecting to receive Tupac Shakur's "All Eyes on Me", which I thought I would have had by now. It's been too long since I heard "Thug Passion", I'm suffering withdrawals.I'm pretty sure that's the last one, but I guess I'll find out if I forgot any over the next few days. In the meantime...

Anymore, I seem to wait until the "Best of" a group or collection of songs comes out so that I don't have to buy 9 songs I don't really care for to get the one I do. I can count the albums I own in which I love the entire album probably on one hand and of those, all are probably from the 70's or 80's. Modern music seems to be mostly fluff with an occasional good song.

Ed, brotha, I'm with you 100%. That goes back to why I like those European sampler CDs - they always have songs that are currently on the charts, so I don't have to buy a bunch of CDs for one song.

And yeah, looking back, most of the ones that I liek the whole CD are older ones. Very few recent ones. Nowadays, I always seem t obuy one CD for a song I really like and hope that there's at least 2 other good songs on there. I'm satisfied with that. My standards sure have slipped.

MissT - The thing about Milli Vanilli was that after it was discovered that they lipsynched their songs, everybody returned their records. Now, to me this was stupid, because you're basically saying that you didn't buy it for the music, you bought it because of the two dreadlocked guys in bicycle pants. I bought the album in 1989 and listened to right up until a few years ago when I lost it.

Hmm, maybe this is another one I'll have to order...

Blame it on the rain!
